Swamp Darter

Etheostoma fusiforme

Swamp darter inhabits ponds and medium-sized streams with aquatic vegetation and is found only on Long Island. It is present throughout its historic range, and although its range is restricted, it seems secure. It is vulnerable to loss of habitat due to dewatering for residential and urban development and is classified as Threatened.
