Finescale Dace
Phoxinus neogaeus
Finescale dace inhabits small streams and is native to the northern half of the state, including the Allegheny, Upper Hudson and several watersheds in the Saint Lawrence drainage. Its status in most of the northern watershed is secure, but it has declined to below detection in the Allegheny, Ontario and Black watersheds. It is rare in the Raquette watershed and in the southern Adirondack region.
