Notropis amoenus

Comely Shiner occurs in medium-sized streams with clean gravel and is native in the Chemung, Susquehanna and Delaware watersheds. It occurs as a non-native species in four adjacent watersheds including Lower Hudson. Populations seem secure in the Delaware watershed but there have been declines in frequency of occurrence in both the Chemung and Susquehanna watersheds. It has been classified as Species Greatest Conservation Need.
