Comely Shiner
Notropos amoenus
Comely shiner occurs in medium-sized streams with clean gravel and is native to the south central and southeastern watersheds. It occurs as a non-native species in a similar number of adjacent watersheds, including the Lower Hudson. Populations seem secure in the Delaware watershed, but there have been declines in frequency of occurrence in both the Chemung and Susquehanna watersheds. It has been classified as Species Greatest Conservation Need.
