Nonpoint Source Management & General Permit Section

  • Coordinates and supports the Nonpoint Source Coordinating Committee (NPSCC), its Steering Committee and workgroups
  • Partners with key federal and state agencies, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, DEC regions, and other interested groups through pollution specific NPSCC Workgroups on agriculture, hydrologic and habitat modifications, on-site wastewater treatment systems, and stormwater runoff
  • Implements the Nonpoint Source Management Program (PDF 879 kb) in collaboration with key partners, and periodically update the management plan;
  • Maintains the NPS Management Practice Catalogs;
  • Assists partners and NYS municipalities to obtain funding for nonpoint source projects (e.g., Bond Act; EPF; Section 319, EQIP, Great Lakes erosion control projects); and
  • Promotes NPS implementation activities including stormwater training events.
