Stationary Sources
The functions of the Bureau of Stationary Sources (BOSS) are diverse. In addition to the coordination of all air permitting activities, the bureau develops and modifies air quality regulations, provides assistance to the regional offices and the public on permitting issues, and maintains a registry of Emission Reduction Credits (ERCs) that are available for emission offsets under Part 231. BOSS also tracks and provides assistance on the application of numerous state and federal standards, manages the implementation of the new dry cleaning regulatory program under Part 232. The bureau has developed a number of guidance and policy documents intended to assist in the administration of the department's air quality program. In addition, the bureau provides meteorology support, Air Quality Index forecast, and impact assessment modeling. Program responsibility within the bureau is divided among four sections comprised of engineers, scientists and support staff.
