Commissioner's Priorities for 2012

My first year as Commissioner has taught me a great deal about the broad scope of DEC's responsibilities and our dedicated professional and support staff that carry out these duties. Based on this year of observation and experience, I have developed the following priorities to guide DEC and its work planning for the coming year:

  • Emphasizing Core Environmental Programs
  • Implementing the New York Works Program
  • Ensuring Clean Water, Air, and Land for a Healthy Public and a Vibrant Economy
  • Greening New York's Economy
  • Protecting Natural Resources and Promoting Outdoor Recreation
  • Working for Environmental Justice and Community Revitalization
  • Working to Address Climate Change
  • Examining High-Volume Hydraulic Fracturing
  • Moving Beyond Waste
  • Leading by Example
