|Duties/Responsibilities||Review permit applications including the environmental assessment form and determine the need to coordinate within the Department of Environmental Conservation and with other local, state, or federal agencies. Perform field investigations and inspections on technically critical wells and wells in environmentally sensitive areas including wells over 6,000 feet deep and high pressure wells. Perform basic mineral resource analyses/studies; assist in complex analyses/studies; investigate pollution incidents; and assist in input and analysis of computer data. Supervise and participate in the training of lower-level staff in the performance of their assigned duties.|

Provisional Qualifications: You must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and have successfully completed one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Mineral Resources Technician 1.
2. sixty semester credit hours, 35 of which must have been in the environmental/engineering sciences such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, geology, statics and dynamics, or strength of materials* AND four years of experience in drilling, development, or production for oil, gas, solution mining, or underground gas storage.

Must have valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and work in remote areas and adverse weather conditions. Travel, overtime, and overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after- hour's emergencies.
