Under the direction of the Bureau Director of Network Services, the position is responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the network operating system and enterprise directory services that support mission critical applications across the Agency. This position makes key design recommendations for the LDAP Schema, as well as replication of this schema to all secondary schemas. Also, this position recommends and implements authentication and authorization software, hardware, and design approach. The position is highly visible, complex, and requires close interaction and coordination with the Information Security Officer, user support, data communications, applications programming units and other technical staff.
Additional duties include:
Is responsible for Novell Netware and SUSE Linux tasks related to: Product Specification, Design, Installation, Configuration, Testing, Monitoring, Performance Analysis, and Troubleshooting at Enterprise Class Server Level.
Provides design, installation, and administration of Enterprise Directory tree structure and servers.
Implements and administers LDAP schema and replication agreements as needed by many critical DEC enterprise applications.
Diagnoses and resolves complex directory tree structure and server problems.
Maintains and demonstrates expert working knowledge of authentication and authorization techniques including SSL authentication and certificate configuration and requirements.
Establishes and implements standards for computer operations for compatibility between hardware and software, according to specifications and parameters.
Participates as the lead technical expert for projects such as new product evaluations, new server selections, server consolidations, regional distributions of equipment, server virtualization projects, power savings projects, operating system conversions, and implementation of new software.
Schedules, plans, and performs enterprise network operating system upgrades, including coordinating the transition from test to production environments.
Creates and maintains work environments used for enterprise email, identity management, secure external user access, and asset management.
Researches vendor solutions and applicable technologies.
Provides technical support for users quickly and efficiently by diagnosing issues and finding solutions in conjunction with the DEC HelpDesk.

Master Certified Novell Engineer certification
7+ years of direct applicable experience including expert knowledge of Novell and SUSE Linux: Netware and SUSE SLES with OES2 Operating Systems, Novell GroupWise 7/8, eDirectory, Novell Identity Manager, Novell Cluster Services, Novell Access Manager (NAM), Novell Patchlink, ZENworks Asset, Configuration, and Patch Management, and VMWare.
Also requires in-depth knowledge of: Citrix, McAfee Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware/ePO, IBM WebSphere Portal Server, Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 2003/2007 Server, Active Directory, Symantec NBU, Apache, Tomcat, SQL Server, and Xiotech SAN.
