Bureau of Pesticides Management
The Bureau of Pesticides Management in the Division of Solid and Hazardous Materials:
- Provides outreach to the regulated community and to the public on pesticide issues.
- Participates in and holds meetings and workshops with the regulated community and interested public.
- Provides certification and training of pesticide applicators. Process pesticide business/agency registrations and commercial permits.
- Inspects the regulated pesticide community. Coordinate pesticide compliance and enforcement issues with DEC regional offices and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
- Implements the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) and promote Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
- Reviews and processes pesticide product registration applications. This includes products which contain new active ingredients and products which represent a major change in use pattern.
- Predicts the environmental fate of pesticides and other chemicals based on geological conditions.
- Administrates and implements the Pesticide Reporting System. This includes updating and improving the data management system for pesticide reporting and developing various alternative forms and processes to attain the best method of annual reporting with the greatest quality of data. Prepare for the Commissioner an annual pesticide report for submission to the Governor and legislative leaders by July 1st of each year.
- Provides technical analytical chemistry support to all Division program areas.
