Brownfields in New York - Transform the Past ~ Build for the Future
Brownfield Cleanup Program (successor to the Voluntary Cleanup Program) - Developed to enhance private-sector cleanup of brownfields and to reduce development pressure on "greenfields."
Environmental Restoration Program - Provides municipalities with financial assistance for site investigation and remediation at eligible brownfield sites.
Brownfield Opportunity Areas Program - Provides technical and financial assistance to municipalities and community based organizations to conduct redevelopment planning for areas containing brownfield sites, leading to designation as a New York State Brownfield Opportunity Area.
State Superfund Program (Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Site Remedial Program) - Oversees the identification, investigation and clean up of sites where consequential amounts of hazardous waste may exist.
Spill Response Program - Oversees the cleanup of releases of petroleum, toxic chemicals, gases, and other hazardous materials that occur throughout New York State.
Petroleum and Chemical Bulk Storage Program - Provides guidelines and controls for the storage of many different hazardous chemicals in conjunction with a tank registration program.
