Serving Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Niagara and Wyoming Counties

Region 9 is located in Western New York and is host to a diverse range of natural resources. Currently, DEC's offices within Region 9 include a main office located in the City of Buffalo, a sub-office in Allegany, and the Dunkirk Lake Erie Fisheries Unit.

The 6 Western New York Counties covered by Region 9 compose over 3 million acres of land.

  • The Allegany, Genesee, and Niagara Rivers flow through Region 9.
  • Over 75 miles of Lake Erie and 30 miles of Lake Ontario shoreline are located in Region 9.
