ABOUT THE POSTINGS - Important information about qualifying for the positions
Please read the following information before proceeding to the link to Current Job Vacancy Posting List at the bottom of this page.
MOST of these positions are open ONLY to permanent New York State Employees and former New York State Employees eligible for reinstatement.
Please Note: Unless otherwise specified, one year of permanent status in title will qualify candidates to apply for reassignment. Some permanent competitive employees may qualify for transfer in accordance with Sections 70.1, 70.4 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Questions in this area should be directed to the Bureau of Personnel.
Some positions may be open to the public: Any position marked with an asterisk (*) in front of the posting number can be filled by either the general public or New York State employees who meet the posted minimum qualifications. These are positions that are not filled from eligible lists OR positions for which there is the possibility that the eligible list may be exhausted.
Eligible list candidates will be considered separately. If you are on an eligible list, you do not need to respond to the posting. When there is the possibility of a provisional appointment, interested candidates who meet the posted minimum qualifications may apply.
HOW TO APPLY:
Candidates who wish to apply for the current vacancies must indicate the position control number (Posting No.) and submit a resume of training and experience to the Bureau of Personnel. Applications must be received in the Bureau of Personnel by the filing deadlines. Late applications may not be considered.
If you are a permanent New York State employee not employed by the Department of Environmental Conservation or applying for reinstatement, please provide your social security number so that appointment eligibility may be verified.
If you apply for more than one posting, you must submit a separate resume for each control number
State Employees: If you wish to receive an acknowledgment that your application(s) was/were received by the Bureau of Personnel for one or more of the vacancies described in this week's listing, and then receive information on the disposition of the position(s), please attach two self-addressed stamped envelopes (preferably inter-office or inter-agency) to the application(s).

NOTES:
Permanent DEC employees assigned to Environmental Facilities Corporation are eligible for lateral transfer and promotional appointment to vacancies that occur in all divisions and regions.
Positions requiring a CDL (Commercial Drivers License) are subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991 which requires that employees be tested for alcohol and/or drug use. Candidates who receive an offer of employment will be tested on a pre-employment basis prior to starting the job.
