The Region 1 Office is situated on the 1,100 acre SUNY at Stony Brook Campus on the north shore of Long Island.
Directions By Car
By car, take the Long Island Expressway (I-495) to exit 62 North, onto Nicolls Road (Rte. 97) for 9 miles. Turn into the north entrance of the university (Just before Route 25A. University has three entrances.) and make a left at the top of the hill. Turn right into the first driveway, which is the Region 1 office entrance.
Directions By Ferry
If traveling by ferry or from the north shore of Long Island, take Rte. 25a to Nicolls Road (Rte. 97) south. Turn into the north entrance and make a left at the top of the hill. Turn right into the first driveway, which is the Region 1 office entrance. From Port Jefferson it is approximately seven miles to the DEC office and from Orient Point it is approximately 70 miles.

Directions By Train
Visitors traveling by train should take the Long Island Rail Road's Port Jefferson line and disembark at the Stony Brook stop, which is on the northern border of the campus. Campus bus service is available. Passengers coming from Penn Station may have to change trains at Jamaica or Huntington stations.

Directions By Plane
If flying in to L.I. Macarthur Airport, Take Rte. 454 W to Lakeland Ave. North, then East onto the L.I. Expressway (I-495) and follow to exit 62 North, onto Nicolls Road (Rte. 97). Turn into the north entrance and make a left at the top of the hill. Turn right into the first driveway, which is the Region 1 office entrance. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports are about 50 miles to the west.
