+ Open Competive Qualifications For appointment as an Assistant Land Surveyor 2: a bachelor's or higher-level degree in land surveying; OR
an associate's degree in land surveying and one year of experience in land surveying;** OR
36 semester credit hours including eight semester credit hours in land surveying, and eight semester credit hours in computer applications, algebra, calculus, geometry or trigonometry*, and two years of experience in land surveying;** OR
four years of experience in land surveying.**
* You MUST submit a list of qualifying courses or a copy of your transcript(s) with your application, including the course title, name of college or university, number of semester credit hours per course, and the date of completion. Applications submitted under this option without a list of relevant courses will not be considered.
** In order to be considered qualifying, your land surveying experience must have included experience in both the technical field and office aspects of the profession. For the purpose of these qualifications: Technical field experience must have included measurements of space, water, land, and structures to determine boundaries, areas, elevations, alignments, and locations; Office experience must have included evaluation and analysis of field data and research of public and private land records.

Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.

Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 9 or higher and either:
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.4: Must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications below;

55-b/55-c Candidates must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications below and include with their resume or application, a copy of the letter from Civil Service which indicates approval for the 55-b/55-c program.

Open competitive minimum qualifications (provided for 55b/c candidates and 70.4 transfer eligibles): For appointment as an Assistant Land Surveyor 1: an associate's or higher-level degree in land surveying; OR
36 semester credit hours, including eight semester credit hours in land surveying and eight semester credit hours in computer applications, algebra, calculus, geometry, or trigonometry* and one year of experience in land surveying;** OR
two years of experience in land surveying.**

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas, and work in adverse weather conditions. Overtime, travel and overnight travel may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
