Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 22 or higher and either:
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.4: Must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications below;
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: One year of permanent competitive service as a Environmental Engineer 2 Civil, Public Health Engineer 2 or Environmental Engineer 2 (with current NYS Professional Engineers License and current registration)
Open competitive minimum qualifications provided for 70.4 transfer eligible candidates.
Minimum Qualifications - Environmental Engineer Civil 2 - Open Competitive:
1) A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration, OR
A professional engineer's license and current registration from a State or Territory of the United States by means of a 16-hour written licensing examination which is the equivalent of that given in New York State. Please submit a photocopy of your license and current registration. Candidates appointed under this option must secure a NYS professional engineer's license and registration prior to appointment;
2) Two years of experience in professional civil engineering.*
* For the purposes of this position, professional civil engineering experience must have been gained after successful completion of Part A of the professional engineer's licensing examination and must have included the application of engineering theory and principles involving the preparation and/or review of plans, designs, specifications and estimates used for construction of dams, roads, bridges, water supply and treatment systems, wastewater disposal and treatment systems, building or other structures; or for the purpose of confirming compliance with environmental or governmental regulations.
A master's degree in civil engineering can be substituted for one year of required experience. A doctoral degree in civil engineering can be substituted for two years of required experience. This substitution can be made ONLY when the higher-level degree is in addition to an acceptable first degree in civil engineering or civil engineering technology.
Please Note: If there is a viable promotion examination eligible list (three acceptors) for this position, candidates who qualify based on 70.4 cannot be considered.
