|Duties/Responsibilities||The Mined Lands Specialist 2 will manage and direct the Mined Lands program in close cooperation with the Minerals
Resources Specialist IV, the Natural Resource Supervisor and Central Office staff. Responsibilities include
development of work plans; delegation of work assignments; supervision and evaluation of subordinate professional
and technical staff; coordination of key issues with Central Office and other ML Specialists towards solving complex
and controversial regional MLR program issues and mining applications, insuring the program operates within budget
allocations; identification and implementation of training needs. The ML Specialist will also interact effectively with
the Natural Resource, Environmental Permits, Law Enforcement and Legal programs.

Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 21 or higher and either:
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.4: Must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications below;
55-b/55-c Candidates must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications below and include with their resume or application, a copy of the letter from Civil Service which indicates approval for the 55-b/55-c program.
Open competitive minimum qualifications (provided for 70.4 transfer eligibles): bachelor's or higher level degree in agriculture, agronomy, botany, environmental or natural sciences, forestry, geography, geology, horticulture, landscape architecture or mining; or in agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, mining, petroleum or geological engineering. In addition, you must have had three years of professional experience in mining* and/or reclamation of land. "Mining" means the extraction of minerals other than oil, gas, or solution salt. EXAMPLES OF NON-QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE: labor-intensive mining positions such as mine laborer; mining equipment operator; lawn and/or tree service; or nursery-related operation.
If there is a viable promotion examination eligible list (three acceptors) for this position, candidates who qualify based on 70.4 transfer options cannot be considered.

Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Travel, overtime, and overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response and available to respond to after- hour's emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
