Duties/Responsibilities

Supervision of mechanics at Sovona and Avon maintenance centers(MC). Will also coordinate work with the Avon MC. Direct field staff on repairs if needed. Direct staff on proper repairs and maintenance and that repair orders are done in a timely and correct manner. Ability to repair heavy equipment and large trucks (bulldozers, loaders, tractors and heavy duty dumps). Do repairs and maintenance to the Flood Protection Pumping Stations. Perform NYS DMV vehicle inspections, must have the necessary license at time of hire. Schedule work to ensure an efficient operation. Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or

Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 12 or higher and:
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: Permanent competitive service as a Motor Equipment Maintenance Supervisor 1, Construction Equipment Mechanic or Motor Equipment Mechanic.
Additional Comments

Must have valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including respirator, will be required. Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overnight travel may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must obtain a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement within 6 months of appointment. Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds. Must have and maintain a certification by the Department of Motor Vehicles to conduct NYS inspections.
