Conduct studies, analyze and evaluate organizations and their work and develop recommendations to assist in solving problems hindering the effective and efficient operation of the Urban Forestry programs.

Conduct program efficiency studies of stakeholder organizations affiliated with the urban forestry program on the delivery of their programs.

Serve as a member of a team to perform specific urban forestry program administrative activities, such as improving efficiency and preparing factual reports.

Conduct DEC urban forestry program efficiency studies and develop appropriate findings.
Review and make revisions to model urban forestry volunteer program structure. Provide technical assistance to urban forestry program participants in implementing new procedures or modified systems.

Coordinate Grants Gateway reports and data to streamline customer service and accessibility.

Make urban forestry program oral presentations on problem solving analysis and describe findings in order to ensure consensus, understanding and cooperation of staff and stakeholders.

Prepare information to assist in promoting Urban and Community Forestry and other program activities of the division including stewardship, recreation, forestry, forest health, public land management planning, and open space conservation on the Department web site with the goal of making the information easy to obtain, interesting and useful to the public.

Educate the public, conduct training of personnel and operational staff; provide updates relative to programmatic priorities, and recruit and train volunteers in urban forestry practices.

Facilitate the implementation of the Statewide Forest Assessment and Strategy by producing an annual state report of program accomplishments of the urban forestry program in New York.

Extensive travel will be required.
Advanced level of Excel and/or Access experience preferred

Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC

Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 11 or higher and either:
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.4: Must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications below;
Eligible for transfer under Section 52.6: Must have current or prior service in a title designated as 52.6 within two salary grades\one M grade of this position. To determine if your title is designated as 52.6 go to the Department of Civil Service website and search for your title under GOT-IT.
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: Permanent competitive service as a Senior Administrative Analyst, Administrative Aide, Agency Program Aide, Senior Librarian, Secretary 2. Also any language parenthetic for the above titles. Additional titles which qualify can be found on the Department of Civil Service website,, search "GOT-IT."

55-b/55-c Candidates must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications below and include with their resume or application, a copy of the letter from Civil Service which indicates approval for the 55-b/55-c program.

Open competitive minimum qualifications (provided for 55b/c candidates and 70.4 transfer eligible): Bachelor's degree.
