Duties/Responsibilities The Conservation Operations Supervisor 3 is responsible for managing flood protection projects, emergency response operations, recreational facilities, educational centers and public use facilities. Plans, budgets, designs, schedules, and completes a variety of maintenance and construction projects. Develops and implements annual work plans, which consists of scheduled maintenance and/or construction of; recreational facilities; flood protection project structures such as levees and dams; remediation of damage caused by storms, erosion and public use; regional facilities such as the regional office, field offices, maintenance shops, garages, and storage buildings; access areas for recreational and sportsman activities; various trails for hiking, skiing and snowmobiling; public and administration roads. Schedules and orders the maintenance and repair of motorized equipment, such as construction equipment, buildings and grounds maintenance equipment, boats, trucks, automobiles, tractors, plows, and smaller power tools and equipment, ensuring that the appropriate equipment is available and in proper working condition. Monitors project-related health and safety issues. Aids the agency's engineers in developing plans and specifications, inspecting contractor work, and serving as contractor liaison. Evaluates the performance of subordinate staff and assists lower level supervisors with supervisory responsibilities. Assumes all the duties and responsibilities of a Conservation Operations Supervisor 4 in their absence.

Minimum Qualifications for provisional appointment:

Four years of experience in building maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or construction; two years of which must have been in the management ** of the program; OR 2. three years of experience in building maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or construction; two years of which must have been in management ** of the program, AND sixty semester credit hours, including 18 semester credit hours in science or applied science in civil, electrical, mechanical, forest, or construction technology.***

* Administration - responsibility for estimating, supervising, and planning and assigning work.
** Management - responsibility for budgeting, supervising, planning and assigning work, and evaluating employees.
*** You must submit a list of qualifying courses with your application. Include the number of semester credit hours for each course. Applications submitted without a list of relevant courses will not be considered.

Open competitive minimum qualifications (provided for 70.4 transfer eligibles): four years of experience in building maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or construction; two years of which must have been in the management ** of the program; OR 2. three years of experience in building maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or construction; two years of which must have been in management ** of the program, AND sixty semester credit hours, including 18 semester credit hours in science or applied science in civil, electrical, mechanical, forest, or construction technology.***

If there is a viable promotion examination eligible list (three acceptors) for this position, candidates who qualify based on 70.4 transfer option cannot be considered.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must provide 24 hour response on a rotational basis and work during normal business hours. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds.
