Duties/Responsibilities The Regional Habitat Manager oversees and directs the following programs; habitat protection, habitat restoration, environmental monitoring and ecotoxicology. The primary workload consists of permitting, compliance and enforcement for the Article 24 Freshwater Wetlands and Article 15 Protection of Waters programs, with lesser involvement in energy projects such as pipelines, transmission lines, hydroelectric, wind and solar power, remediation sites, NRD cases and biota collection.

Duties also include program administration such as; development of annual work plans, annual budgets, supplies and equipment management, personnel administration and supervision, coordination with central office Bureau of Ecosystem Health staff, and public education and outreach.

Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC

Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.

Transfer Eligible under Section 70.1 - One year of permanent competitive service as a Biologist 2 (Aquatic), (Ecology), (Marine) or (Wildlife), SG23.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Travel and overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required.
