The Bureau of Fish and Wildlife Services is responsible for Division of Fish, Wildlife and Marine Resources administration, special licenses, sportsman education, staff training and development, and extension. Administrative Unit functions include personnel management, budget management, including grants and contracts, and internal controls. The Special Licenses Unit is responsible for the distribution of applications for special licenses and the review and issuance of these licenses. These licenses are for uses of the State's fish and wildlife beyond traditional hunting and fishing. The Sportsman Education Unit provides the training required by State law to obtain a hunting or trapping license in New York. The Staff Training and Development Section provides training and development for Division staff that is necessary for them to perform their jobs in a safe and efficient manner. The Extension Unit handles the Division's legislative and regulatory coordination, liaison with the Department's press office and maintains and enhances the Division web pages.
